To ensure that students understand the continuity of General Education as a whole and the specific goals of each course, faculty are requested to list in their syllabi the General Education goals corresponding to the category in which the course is located.

New Courses: New courses must be submitted through the regular online curriculum process and include information on how the course addresses the General Education goals (above) specific to the category that will house it.
Existing courses not currently in General Education: Syllabi for existing courses can be sent as an attachment to email@example.com. Please also include a memo detailing how the course addresses the General Education goals (above) specific to the category that will house it. The Council on General Education will review the fit of the course within the category.
Revisions to courses currently in General Education: Revisions not affecting the broad learning outcomes do not require review. Substantial changes and revisions that involve moving a course from one category to another should be treated as an "existing course not currently in General Education." For prerequisite changes, please contact Dr. Rosenthal at 438-2157.
The Institutional Artifact Portfolio (IAP) process for General Education assessment has been designed to help illustrate students’ acquisition of the knowledge and skills addressed in the General Education Program. Information collected from the Institutional Artifact Portfolio will provide faculty with specific data to address areas of strength and weakness of the current General Education curriculum.
General Education syllabi will be collected periodically to verify continuity with program outcomes.
