On October 11, 2019, at the request of the Council on General Education, then Provost Jan Murphy requested a task force be formed to undertake a review of General Education at Illinois State University. Such a review is typically undertaken every five years. The work of the task force, co-chaired by Dr. Chris Horvath and Dr. Cheri Simonds, is seeking feedback on the proposed revisions with a final proposal then moving to the Council on General Education, Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, and the Academic Senate.
